The Chandler Challenge is an invitation to
all Chandler residents and their families to combat the nationwide crisis of
obesity in a fun way. “We hope parents will use this event as an excuse to
get the whole family off the couch and exercising together, said Glenna
McCollum, CEF executive director. “We want them to train for this run, but
also get the whole family in the habit of
exercising.”
Proceeds from the Chandler Challenge
benefits Chandler Unified School District Students and CEF.
The Day of Play is a celebration of
Chandler being named one of the Top 100 Communities for Young People by the
America’s Promise Alliance for the third time. America’s Promise is a
national organization founded by former General Colin Powell, which
encourages communities to deliver Five Promises, considered to be essential
to young people. All Day of Play activities fall under the Five Promises; A
Healthy Start, Effective Education, Opportunities, Safe Places and Caring
Adults.
